Tokio Marine HCC-MIS: How Coronavirus Affects Your Coverage
If You Purchased Your Atlas Policy on Or After July 15, 2020 : Your plan will cover eligible medical expenses resulting from COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2.
Atlas Travel Medical Insurance is an insurance policy designed for international travelers from around the world. Atlas travel insurance includes comprehensive medical, emergency evacuation and essential travel benefits that provide financial protection to international travelers against different kinds of risks you can encounter while traveling outside of your home country.
If in the unfortunate event the insured person dies due to a covered illness or injury, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance provides Repatriation of Remains benefit that pays for air or ground transportation to bring remains or ashes of the deceased insured person back to their home country, and reasonable costs of preparation of the remains necessary for transportation, up to the amount indicated in the Schedule of Benefits and Limits.
Tokio Marine HCC-MIS Group must approve the travel arrangements for repatriation in advance. You can call HCC-MIS Customer Service to make arrangements.
The repatriation process must be coordinated by the insurance company. HCC-MIS can help to work with local authorities on post-mortem exam (if necessary), remove and embalm the body, prepare coffin or container, obtain approval from government for transport, arrange air or ground transportation, etc.
If you want to bury or cremate the deceased insured person in the country of death instead of repatriation, see Local Burial or Cremation benefit. You can use either local burial / cremation benefit or repatriation of remains benefit, but not both.
