What illnesses or injuries are covered by Atlas Travel Medical Insurance?

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance is an insurance policy designed for international travelers from around the world. Atlas travel insurance includes comprehensive medical, emergency evacuation and essential travel benefits that provide financial protection to international travelers against different kinds of risks you can encounter while traveling outside of your home country.


Travel medical insurance is there for unexpected illness or injury that may occur while you travel abroad, e.g. food poisoning, contagious diseases such as malaria or yellow fever, slip and fall injuries, car accident injuries, etc.


Atlas Travel Medical Insurance provides comprehensive medical coverage that pays for eligible medical expenses for covered illness, injury or other medical conditions.


Illness means a sickness, disorder, illness, pathology, abnormality, ailment, disease or any other medical, physical or health condition. Illness does not include learning disabilities, attitudinal disorders or disciplinary problems.


If you have medical condition (both diagnosed and undiagnosed) that existed before your insurance becomes effective, and you have a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of pre-existing conditions while traveling abroad, this may be covered under Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions benefit.


For purposes of Atlas insurance, illness includes Complications of Pregnancy during the first 26 weeks of pregnancy. Atlas insurance pays for eligible medical expenses to treat covered complications of pregnancy e.g. ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, etc. Atlas insurance does not cover routine medical care for your normal pregnancy. All charges related to pregnancy after the 26th week of pregnancy are not covered. 


While traveling abroad, if you suddenly experience an acute onset of pain, damaged or lost teeth caused by an accident, and you need emergency dental treatment, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance has Emergency Dental benefit that pays for eligible dental expenses.


If you have lost your checked luggage or you have an accidental injury, which results in the loss or damage of your prescription corrective lenses, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance has Emergency Eye Exam benefit that pays for the cost of eye exam for you to obtain a lens prescription.


Injury means an unexpected and unforeseen harm to the body caused by an accident that requires medical treatment. If you have accidentally injured yourself e.g. slip and fall, a car or boat accident, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance pays for eligible medical expenses. Atlas Insurance also has Sports and Activities benefit that covers injuries resulting from participation in covered sports and physical activities.


If you are caught up in a terror attack when you are traveling abroad, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance has Act of Terrorism benefit that covers eligible medical expenses for treatment of injuries and illnesses resulting from an act of terrorism.


Atlas Travel Medical Insurance comes with key exclusions that do not qualify for coverage under this plan. You are not covered if expenses arise directly or indirectly from anything in the General Exclusions.



Atlas Travel Medical Insurance has comprehensive medical benefits that pays eligible medical expenses if you experience an unexpected illness or injury while traveling abroad.  Atlas insurance provides worldwide coverage. In the event of a medical emergency, you are free to go to doctors, hospitals, or other health care providers of your choice.
