Atlas Travel Medical Insurance Emergency Eye Exam Coverage

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance is an insurance policy designed for international travelers from around the world. Atlas travel insurance includes comprehensive medical, emergency evacuation and essential travel benefits that provide financial protection to international travelers against different kinds of risks you can encounter while traveling outside of your home country.


While traveling abroad, if you have lost your checked luggage or you have an accidental injury, which results in the loss or damage of your prescription corrective lenses, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance has Emergency Eye Exam benefit that pays for the cost of eye exam up to the amount indicated in the Schedule of Benefits and Limits, so that you can have an eye exam to obtain a lens prescription.


Atlas Travel Medical Insurance covers: Emergency Eye Exam if your prescription corrective lenses are lost or damaged due to a covered loss and an exam is required to obtain a lens prescription for medically necessary correction lenses, but not for the replacement cost of prescription corrective lenses or contact lenses.

Emergency Eye Exam means an eye exam performed by a licensed optometrist to establish proper corrective lens prescription for medically necessary corrective lenses that were lost or damaged as the result of a covered loss when the prescription is unable to be determined by the existing corrective lenses due to their damage or loss.


Covered Loss means a loss for which this plan has paid a benefit under Lost Checked Luggage or for an accidental injury.


Atlas insurance does not cover: eye surgery, such as corrective refractory surgery, when the primary purpose is to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism; Or visual eye training; Or Corrective devices and medical appliances, including eyeglasses, contact lenses, eye refraction, visual therapy, except as provided for under Emergency Eye Exam. 


If you need to obtain an emergency eye exam, you can go to a licensed optometrist of your choice. Atlas insurance does not restrict your right to select the medical service provider.
