How to extend Atlas Travel Medical Insurance policy?

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance is an insurance policy designed for international travelers from around the world. Atlas travel insurance includes comprehensive medical, emergency evacuation and essential travel benefits that provide financial protection to international travelers against different kinds of risks you can encounter while traveling outside of your home country.

Can I keep my Atlas policy for a longer period of time?

After having purchased Atlas Travel Medical Insurance, if you plan to extend your international trip and stay longer outside of your home country, you may extend your Atlas insurance to keep coverage for a longer period of time. 

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance can be extended by days, for up to a maximum of 364 days from the initial effective date of coverage. 

You can extend your insurance before the policy expires. Don’t wait until the last minute to extend your coverage, it is advisable to extend your coverage at least two days or earlier in advance of the expiration.

How to extend Atlas Travel Medical Insurance online?

You may extend Atlas Travel Medical Insurance policy online via Client Zone. There is a $5 service fee each time you extend your policy.

1. Login Client Zone.  

2. Click “Policy” tab from the header menu, then click “Extend Coverage” from the drop down list.

3. Enter the date that you would like to extend your insurance policy through. Then click “Recalculate” button.  Then click “Next” button to Proceed to Payment Page.

Combined Premium is your insurance premium for the extended period of time, plus $5 Service Fee, Payment Total is the amount that you pay for this extension.

When you extend your insurance, you cannot change the policy maximum and deductible. Your extension is to increase the duration of insurance coverage with same Schedule of Benefits and Limits indicated in the original policy.

4. Enter your payment information, click the check box to accept Terms and Conditions, then click “Submit” button to send payment. 

After successful payment, you will receive coverage confirmation by Email. Your certificate ID is the same as your original policy after you extend insurance coverage.

After you extend your insurance policy, there is no break in coverage, you will not be required to re-satisfy your deductible and your benefit limits will not be reset. If you have a medical condition that occurred and was eligible for coverage in the original policy, this medical condition will not be considered a pre-existing condition in the extended duration of the policy. 

If you decide to stay abroad longer but your original insurance policy has already expired, then you can no longer extend your original policy. You will have to purchase a new plan with new certificate ID.  You must satisfy the new terms and conditions required by the new policy. For example, if you have a covered medical condition in the previous policy, this covered condition will be considered a pre-existing condition in the new policy.
