Atlas Travel Medical Insurance Common Carrier Accidental Death Coverage

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance is an insurance policy designed for international travelers from around the world. Atlas travel insurance includes comprehensive medical, emergency evacuation and essential travel benefits that provide financial protection to international travelers against different kinds of risks you can encounter while traveling outside of your home country.


If in the unfortunate event you die due to accident while riding as a fare paying passenger on a commercial airline or cruise line, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance provides Common Carrier Accidental Death benefit that pays a lump sum payment  to your beneficiary, up to the amount indicated in the Schedule of Benefits and Limits.

Accidental Death means a sudden, unintentional and unexpected occurrence caused solely by external, visible means resulting in physical injury to you and your subsequent death. Death must occur within 30 days of the sudden, unintentional and unexpected occurrence and not be contributed to by illness or disease. 


You can name a beneficiary upon purchasing your insurance who would receive the benefit in the event of your death. If you do not designate a beneficiary on the application, the beneficiary is automatically as follows:

Members age 18 or older: 1. Spouse (if any), 2. Children (if any) equally, 3. Your estate. 

Members under age 18: 1. Custodial Parent(s) (if any), 2. Siblings (if any) equally, 3. Your estate.


Atlas travel insurance pays for the cost of Repatriation of Remains or Local Burial or Cremation


When you file a claim, Tokio Marine HCC-MIS Group usually requires death certificate showing that the insured person has died due to a covered accident, and the insured person’s airline/ cruise line ticket.  


If you are injured in a covered accident, Atlas Travel Medical Insurance’s medical benefit pays for eligible medical and dental expenses. 


COMMON CARRIER ACCIDENTAL DEATH BENEFIT 

YOU ARE COVERED

1. The amount indicated in the Schedule of Benefits to the beneficiary. 

YOU ARE NOT COVERED unless you fulfill the following conditions: 

  1. The accident giving rise to the accidental death must occur while you are a fare paying passenger on a regularly scheduled trip on board a commercial airline or cruise line;
  2. Death must occur with 30 days of the sudden, unintentional and unexpected occurrence and not be contributed to by illness or disease; and
  3. The maximum liability under this Common Carrier Accidental Death Benefit for a group or family is limited to $250,000.

YOU ARE NOT COVERED IF:
1. Expenses arise directly or indirectly from anything in the General Exclusions.
