USA visitors: Who can be covered by Atlas America Travel Medical Insurance?

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance Atlas America plan is a visitor health insurance policy designed to provide medical and travel benefits, as well as emergency travel assistance to take the risk out of international travelers visiting the USA. Atlas America insurance is available to individuals, families, and groups from over 180 countries. You get access to quality care and are protected against the costs that can incur from unexpected medical and/ or travel emergencies.



Atlas America insurance is available to foreign visitors who are traveling to the United States for tourism, visiting family, business, study, work, or other purposes. Applicant has to be at least 14 days old and below age 100 years. 


Atlas America plan is ideal for individuals, families, and groups who come to the U.S. for a short period of time with non-immigrant visas (e.g. B1 / B2 visitor visas, F / J / M / Q student visas, H / L / O / P / Q worker visas), or international visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries.


For example: 


  • tourists and leisure travelers to the U.S.;
  • parents or relatives visiting their children, family, or friends in the U.S.;
  • business visitors who come to the U.S. for conference, trade shows, business meeting, or short-term training etc;
  • temporary workers and/or their dependent family members who come to the U.S. for job training or short-term / seasonal work;
  • H1B work visa holders and their dependent family members with H-4 visa;
  • au-pairs or foreign nannies;
  • international students attending schools, seminars, language-training or exchange programs in the U.S, and/or their dependent family members;
  • international students on OPT status;
  • international scholars with a J-1 visa who come to the U.S. for work-study exchange programs, and their dependent family members with J-2 visa. Atlas America insurance meets U.S. Department of State’s insurance requirements of a J-1/ J-2 visa

Who is not eligible?

According to Atlas Travel Medical Insurance’s requirement, if you are a US citizen and currently residing outside of the United States, your home country is always United Sates. When you return to the U.S. for a short visit, you are not eligible for coverage within the U.S. 


Residents from North Korea, Iran, and Cuba are not eligible for Atlas Travel Medical Insurance.
