Atlas Travel Medical Insurance Atlas America plan is a visitor health insurance policy designed to provide medical and travel benefits, as well as emergency travel assistance to take the risk out of international travelers visiting the USA. Atlas America insurance is available to individuals, families, and groups from over 180 countries. You get access to quality care and are protected against the costs that can incur from unexpected medical and/ or travel emergencies.

Emergency Eye Exam

Atlas Travel Medical Insurance includes Emergency Eye Exam coverage. Emergency Eye Exam means an eye exam performed by a licensed optometrist to establish proper corrective lens prescription for medically necessary corrective lenses that were lost or damaged as the result of a covered loss when the prescription is unable to be determined by the existing corrective lenses due to their damage or loss.

After you get a prescription from an optometrist, an optician can help you to find eyeglasses or contact lenses that are the best match for you. Atlas insurance does not include the replacement cost of prescription corrective lenses or contact lenses.

Optometrists are eye care providers who can examine, diagnose and treat eye and visual system diseases and disorders. Optometrists can perform vision tests and eye exams, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses. They can also provide basic eye care and monitor eye diseases. U.S. optometrists usually have completed optometry school and have Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree.

In the United States most optometrists work in private practices, some work in doctors’ offices and optical goods stores. You can also find optometric practices in large retail chains such as Wal-mart, Costco etc. Usually you need to schedule an appointment for eye exams. Some optometrists offer walk in appointments.
